As we're now well into 2019, one of the most popular topics every year is the painting industry's color-trend forecast, as well as the big paint companies' announcements of their house painting colors of the year.
And while there doesn't necessarily seem to be a consensus among the experts as to any particular color palette that they expect to be the most popular for the coming year, it's always fun to see which schemes are gaining popularity when it's time to freshen-up the look of our homes -- inside or out.

"This warm terracotta color with ancient, elemental roots is our 2019 Color of the Year. Cavern Clay is a nod to midcentury modern style, but with the soul of the American Southwest, which together creates a desert modern aesthetic.
This warm, earthy hue is both casual and refined. It can be the backdrop of a playful, welcoming dining room or kitchen when paired with bright tiles, warm stone and sculptural greenery. Complementary materials include leather, simple woodgrains and indigenous cacti in contemporary, sleek gardening planters.
Cavern Clay is an easy way to bring the warmth of the outdoors in. Envision beaches, canyons and deserts, and sun-washed late summer afternoons—all of this embodied in one color."
Cavern Clay has its own webpage you can check out that will give you design ideas and complimentary hues when using this color in your home.
“Night Watch is about bringing the healing power from the outdoors into your home through color," explains Dee Schlotter, PPG senior color marketing manager. "The dark green hue pulls our memories of natural environments to the surface to recreate the calming, invigorating euphoria we feel when in nature."
On Nightwatch's webpage you can even try out the color for yourself using a photo of your home.
Nightwatch was named Color of the Year as part of our We Are: Color trends.
It is also only one of 200 colors in PPG's annual Global Color Trends Forecast. This forecast provides direction and inspiration to architects, designers and homeowners across the hotel, retail and residential markets.
“Metropolitan AF-690 emanates nuance, harmony and extravagant ease. Always adaptable, it softens to matte or shimmers with sheen. It's neutral. It's understated. It just is. This is color, off-duty."—Ellen O'Neill, Benjamin Moore & Co.
